EMDR THERAPY FOR WOMEN IN St. Albans, VT
Heal your painful past with EMDR therapy
Have you explored traditional talk therapy but didn’t get results as soon as you hoped for?
Don’t let trauma control your timeline for healing.
Maybe you haven’t found the type of help that brings you the relief you're searching for. You don't want to relive your past for years of therapy to get the results you want.
You can benefit from EMDR if you have experienced:
feelings of not being good enough
people pleasing tendencies
a traumatic event
nightmares or flashbacks
symptoms of anxiety or depression
fears
sexual assault
violence or abuse
have any type of distressing memory

EMDR allows the brain to engage in its
natural healing capabilities
with fewer sessions than other psychotherapies for faster results
Realize your potential to recover from trauma.
The process that EMDR encourages is the exact reason that all negative experiences dont become distressing - your brain does this all on its own! Sometimes, with certain situations, a memory can get stuck. EMDR allows these “stuck” memories to become fully processed to resolve the feelings of distress, and therefore the related symptoms.
Unlock your brain’s natural ability to process in a more productive way
Your memories and experiences are an important part of your story. EMDR doesn’t make you forget your memories, but rather helps you to recall them in a way that is less emotionally charged and disturbing. Can you imagine remembering a traumatic moment without feeling like you are still in it? This is what EMDR can do for you!
Through EMDR, brief focus on your trauma memory paired with bilateral stimulation (think tapping, eye movements, or vibrations) leads to reprocessing of “stuck” trauma. EMDR is an extensively researched psychotherapy that has been proven superior to Prozac in trauma treatment (Van der Kolk et al., 2007). EMDR resolves unprocessed traumatic memories via your brain’s natural healing process. Non-intrusive, effective, and efficient.

FAQS
What others have wondered about EMDR
-
No, this is the beauty of EMDR! Brief and intentional focus on your memory, with limited reporting if this is what you desire, is enough for the process to be effective.
-
In our preparation phase, we will work together to develop coping mechanisms to utilize throughout the reprocessing phase. We will always go at your pace and you can stop the process at any time.
-
Many of our traumatic experiences resolve on their own. When they don’t, various parts of our brain need help communicating to complete the natural healing process. When healed, the upsetting images, thoughts, and emotions are remembered without the fight, flight, or freeze response that causes many of the challenging symptoms you may expereince.
